: Quel est votre premier souvenir musical ou sonore ?
Playing a 7" single of Breakaway by the Beach Boys about 100 times
in a row and singing along to those glorious harmonies.
Quels
artistes ou chansons ont marqué votre jeunesse ?
Well, the early part (i was born 1962-)
certainly the Walker Brothers. My dad worked with them so I guess
I subconciously picked up on it..
Pensiez-vous
travailler dans la musique ? Que souhaitiez-vous devenir plus
tard ?
Not really. not until i was a little punk
aged 15. I always wanted to be a professional footballer. I carried
on playing till I was about 36 hoping someone form Tottenham would
'scout' me!
Y
a t’il des sons désagréables (ou agréables) qui
ont marqué votre jeunesse ?
Well
my elder sisters all like nice things like Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood
Mac, and my brother liked noisy things like Led Zepellin, Iron Butterfly
so I guess somewhere along the line, I worked out my own sounds. I
hated all those bands then, and really only when I heard the Sex Pistols
did I wake up to music
Est-ce
que vos parents ont participé à votre éducation
musicale ?
Kind
of. I had violin lessons for a while, but once I had heard the Clash
and the Slits, I gave it up and took up the bass instead, though I
had no formal training at that. I've always had a fairly good ear,
and watched my old man play the piano, and picked up a bit that way.
That's what I seem to play most these days,
Pouvez-vous
raconter un souvenir d’enfance marquant, relatif à la musique
(concert, spectacle…) ?
I must have lead a fairly sheltered life or something, cos I hadn't
seen a concert til I was 15, and I think the first show was either
Generation X or Subway Sect.
