JadeWeb : What is your first musical memory ?
Listening to my dad play the beatles on his record player
i think.
Which
artist or song has "affected" your childhood ?
Not
sure. i liked REM and The Cure alot, Quicksand really inspired me
with the hardcore scene, animal rights, vegetarianism and being pc,
same with Sick of It All and all the groups in the hardcore scene.
Did
you think of working in music ? What did you really want to become
later?
I’ve
sang since I was like 6 years old I think. So I’ve always been working
in/around music forever pretty much. Never thought I would be working
within it though later, wanted to work in the outdoors/snowboarding
at a resort, or something like this.
Are
there any disturbing or nice sounds that have "affected" your childhood ?
Not
that I can recall, although I was once locked in an elevator.
Did
your parents give you a musical education ?
Not
really, it was all pretty much my doing, although I think my mom wanted
to give me piano lessons, but I wouldn’t have it.
Can
you tell us about a musical memory of your childhood (a concert, a
show..) ?
I remember being a lead in the musical Oklahoma, a sort of western
musical set place in the U.S. around 1890 maybe. I was a traveling
persian salesmen (basically a con artist), and all the men in town
were trying to set me up with their daughters cause I was supposed
to be this honorable guy or something... I remember this girl didn’t
come on stage at one point cause she forgot, so I was on stage by
myself for like a minute, which in a musical/play is a VERY long time.
so I had to just create this dialog by myself the whole time, it was
very difficult. I will also never forget singing in the cathedral
in Koln, Germany when I was 18 with my school choir when we toured
Europe... that was incredible.
