My first musical memory would probably be singing "Popcorn popping on the apricot tree" in my church. That song was my favorite.

2. I think that Devo's "Whip it" affected me in deep ways as a child. I can remember dancing around to that song with my brother and sister and just being so excited by it's originality and oddness! To this day, I am looking for music that stirs my creative juices the way that "Whip It" did when I was young.

Pensiez-vous travailler dans la musique ? Que souhaitiez-vous devenir plus tard ?
3. I can remember thinking that I would eventually start playing the guitar. I don't know why, but it seemed like an eventuality rather than something that was up in the air. When I did start playing, the floodgates opened and I immediately started writing music right off the bat... granted, the songs were really really bad. I really wanted to become a baseball player or anartist of some sort. My mom is an artist.

4. Well, my Dad loved to sing sea shanties and although I hated it as a child, I wouldn't mind hearing him sing one now! Also, I can remember being in a big mall and hearing the PA system echo off of the walls. I remember being totally mesmerized by that effect. I am sure that had some bearing on the guitar sound that I am always searching for.

5. My parents absolutely gave me a musical education!! My Dad was a total music lover who played guitar and loved to sing. He was always buying strange instruments like tablas, hammer dulcimer, saltry, and to this day I use his old fender amps for my guitar. My Mom is also a lover of music. She was really into New Wave when I was young and would listen to Depeche Mode, the Cure, BlancMange, R.E.M., Devo, the Pretenders, the list goes on. Needless to say she influenced my tastes in music dramatically !

6. As a child, I never really went to concerts or saw any live music. I can say that when I was a bit older, I bought the Cure's "Disintegration" and it changed my life! The density of the sound and the heart felt nature of the music was, and still is, engrossing. I love that album !

Votre Top 5 de l’enfance

1. The Cure "Disintegration"
2. Depeche Mode "Violator"
3. R.E.M. " tape my uncle made for me"
4. Donovan "Greatest Hits"
5. New Wave for Nancy "tape my uncle made for my Mom"
